Duneland Advent Festival at St Pat's

What a great way to get in the Christmas spirit!  10 churches of all denominations came together at St. Pat's Friday, 11-Dec, to share the joy of the season through music and song.  From Bells to A Capella numbers to childrens' choirs, all praised God and welcomed Christ through their God-given talents.  Especially moving was the do-it-yourself Handel's Messiah, where singers from all choirs and even the audience were invited up to join their voices together in song.  It was a very real example that there really is more that unites us than separates us...

    Stewardship: “A Way of Life”

In Sunday's reading (December 13), St Paul assures us that “The Lord is near” and urges us to stop our worrying, knowing that God will bring the gift of peace to our hearts, a peace beyond human understanding, Like the crowds surrounding John the Baptist, we too may be asking, “What should we do?” John’s answer holds true today: Share with others, act justly and be satisfied with what we have.

Why not balance time spent Christmas shopping with efforts for the less fortunate?

    LITURGICAL LEDGE ADVENT REFLECTIONS

During the upcoming four weeks of Advent we find the Mass readings kind of all over the place in the life of Jesus. We begin with a gospel reference to the advent of the second coming of Christ, represented in the cross with the clouds, yet in the first reading, there is the hopeful advent of a promise of a “just shoot” of David. This is represented in the art piece of “The Betrothal of Mary and Joseph”, both of the royal line of David. In this art work, look for the shoot behind Joseph, seen in many forms of art of Joseph.

    COMMUNITY ADVENT SING!

Friday, December 11th at 7:00 pm

Our parish hosts the Community Advent Festival of choirs from local churches.  It is a fine community event that showcases the talent & effort that people of all Christian Denominations put in to celebrating in song the Christian joy of this season.  A free will offering is taken-up during the service that goes to the local food pantry. This event is a major fundraiser for this important anti-hunger work!

Children. That children may be respected, loved and never exploited Christ, Light of the World.
